Bill overview
This bill requires the Oregon Department of Human Services to provide replacement Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to recipients whose benefits are stolen through electronic theft, such as card skimming or cloning. It also directs the department to report on underutilization of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) programs. Furthermore, the bill tasks the Hunger Task Force with studying food waste from grocery stores, farms, and schools, and with examining food deserts and related programs, submitting reports to the Legislative Assembly on these issues. The bill also declares an emergency, allowing it to take effect immediately.
