Overview
This bill expands California’s workers’ compensation system to provide a leave of absence without loss of salary to certain peace officers and firefighters who are injured or become ill while performing their duties. Specifically, it extends this benefit to peace officers employed by counties of the eighth class, in addition to those already covered. The leave lasts up to one year or until permanent disability pension is received.
