Bill overview
This bill changes how toll facilities share vehicle information during interstate interoperability programs. Instead of providing detailed data like license plates and transaction records, toll operators can now only share license plate data, transponder data, and transaction data – acknowledging, correcting, or reconciling transactions. The bill prohibits the sharing of biometric information and establishes penalties for exceeding these data sharing limits, requiring transparency by posting interoperability specifications on the transportation agency’s website. Existing provisions related to interim systems and specific requirements for 1991 or earlier systems are repealed.
