Bill overview
This bill proposes an amendment to California’s Constitution to expand property tax exemptions for veterans and their families. Specifically, it allows dwellings receiving the veterans’ or disabled veterans’ exemption to also qualify for the standard homeowners’ exemption. Furthermore, it would ensure that any increases to the homeowners’ exemption are mirrored in the veterans’ exemption, with the limitation that the increase cannot exceed the full value of the property. The bill also removes restrictions on property ownership that previously limited eligibility for these exemptions.
