Bill overview
This bill establishes the California Civic Media Program through the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). It creates the California Civic Media Fund, a continuously appropriated source of $10 million from the General Fund, to support California’s press corps, community journalism, and news organizations, particularly those serving underserved communities. The program will be administered by GO-Biz and overseen by a 9-person advisory board representing various media organizations.
