Bill overview
This bill expands criminal penalties for prostitution and related offenses in California. It increases the punishment for soliciting or engaging in prostitution with a minor, particularly if the minor is significantly younger than the perpetrator, requiring probationers to complete human trafficking education. The bill also makes it a misdemeanor to loiter in public places with the intent to purchase commercial sex and increases fines for hotels that fail to report sex trafficking activity. Funds collected from fines will be deposited into the Survivor Support Fund, which provides grants to organizations assisting victims of sex trafficking.
