Bill overview
This bill allows California community colleges to build housing developments without needing to follow local zoning regulations, provided the development is located within a half-mile radius of a main or existing satellite campus. If the project includes housing for faculty and staff, a portion of the units must be offered at affordable rents to extremely low-income and lower-income faculty and staff. The bill aims to address the state’s affordable housing shortage and support students and educators.
