Bill overview
This bill expands the ability of California health care districts to use a streamlined ‘design-build’ process for constructing or renovating hospitals and health facilities. Currently, only a few districts are authorized to use this method. The bill allows any health care district that owns or operates a hospital or clinic to utilize this process, which can lead to faster and more efficient construction projects. Importantly, the bill includes a provision stating that the state will not reimburse these districts for any costs associated with this expanded authority due to the creation of a new crime under perjury law.
