Bill overview
This bill aims to improve California’s wildfire safety by establishing a framework for comprehensive wildfire risk planning and mitigation. It requires the State Fire Marshal’s deputy director to create a Wildfire Risk Mitigation Planning Framework and a Wildfire Risk Baseline and Forecast, updated every three years, to evaluate and direct wildfire risk reduction efforts. The bill also mandates the creation of a Wildfire Mitigation Scenarios Report and requires the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to allocate funds for local governments to implement wildfire prevention programs, including ember-resistant zone regulations.
