Bill overview
This bill creates a new California Blackout License Plate Program, allowing residents to apply for plates with a black background and white lettering if at least 7,500 applications are received. It also establishes fees for the plates and directs revenue to the California Environmental License Plate Fund. The bill also temporarily authorizes commemorative 2028 Olympic license plates and directs revenue from those plates to a new fund supporting wildfire relief efforts. Additionally, it updates the standard license plate design to include a black option.
