Bill overview
This bill proposes an amendment to California’s Constitution to expand the state’s property tax exemptions, particularly for veterans and their families. It adds the United States Space Force to the list of eligible military branches for the veterans’ exemption, allowing dwellings receiving this exemption to also qualify for the homeowners’ exemption. Furthermore, the bill removes restrictions on property ownership that previously limited veterans’ exemptions based on property value, and would ensure any increases to the homeowners’ exemption are mirrored in the veterans’ exemption, subject to property value limits.
