Bill overview
This bill changes how the California Department of Parks and Recreation can acquire property for state parks. It allows the director to waive certain approval processes, including appraisals and contract approvals, until January 1, 2033, for specific acquisitions. Additionally, it exempts the Department of Parks and Recreation from the requirement of the State Public Works Board acquiring real property for park purposes, also until January 1, 2033. The bill also increases the amount of state real estate acquisitions that can be made without Director of General Services approval to $750,000, and requires the Department of Parks and Recreation to report on its use of these new authorities.
