Bill overview
This bill amends California law to allow Mexican prepaid health plans to offer health coverage in the state. Currently, these plans could only sell to Mexican nationals employed in the San Diego and Imperial Counties. This bill expands eligibility to include all Mexican nationals legally employed in those counties, as well as their dependents regardless of nationality. It also increases the required tangible net equity for these plans to $2,300,000, or allows them to demonstrate an alternative reimbursement arrangement approved by the Director of Managed Health Care.
