Bill overview
This bill requires large California employers (those with 100 or more employees) to submit annual pay data reports to the Civil Rights Department. These reports must detail employee demographics, including race, ethnicity, and sex, as well as pay information, broken down by job category and pay band. The bill also increases the number of job categories reported on to 23 and mandates separate storage of demographic information from personnel records. Failure to comply could result in civil penalties.
