Bill overview
This bill creates a grant program to support school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools in providing assistance to unaccompanied homeless youth (ages 16 and 17). The program, called the Unaccompanied Youth Support Grant Program, aims to improve school attendance, engagement, graduation rates, and overall well-being for these students by connecting them with housing resources and other necessary services. Local educational agencies must identify at least one unaccompanied youth in the prior year to be eligible for funding, and they’ll need to report on how the funds are used and the outcomes achieved.
