Bill overview
This bill amends California’s Political Reform Act of 1974 to allow the Fair Political Practices Commission to extend filing deadlines for individuals affected by an emergency situation. If an emergency reasonably prevents someone from meeting a filing deadline, the commission can extend it by up to 60 days, but not within 90 days of an election. The bill defines ‘emergency situation’ based on a proclamation by the Governor or a local governing body.
