Bill overview
This bill addresses antisemitism and other forms of discrimination in California public schools. It establishes an Office of Civil Rights within the Government Operations Agency to work with local educational agencies to prevent and address discrimination, bias, and antisemitism. The bill also mandates professional development materials and instructional resources be reviewed for discriminatory content, creates a process for appealing decisions regarding discriminatory materials, and requires schools to notify parents about protections related to discrimination. The bill is contingent upon the enactment of another bill.
