Bill overview
California Assembly Bill 1093 establishes the California-Mexico Higher Education Development and Academic Exchange Program to increase student and faculty exchange between California public universities and Mexican universities. The bill requires the University of California, California State University, and California Community Colleges to develop and implement plans to send up to 400 students to Mexican universities and receive up to 400 students from Mexico. It also aims to establish exchange programs at a minimum of 10 California State University campuses and one campus at each University of California campus by 2029, along with similar requirements for community college districts. The bill creates a dedicated fund to support these exchange programs.
