Bill overview
This bill changes how the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) handles fees for private industry partners who provide services like vehicle registration. It limits the fees that second-line business partners – those that process registrations for other companies – can charge customers to no more than 5% above the DMV’s own fees. The DMV must also require these partners to clearly link to their website and inform customers they can get services directly from the DMV without extra costs, and the bill mandates increased oversight of these partnerships.
