Bill overview
This bill changes the amount of notice a landlord must give a tenant before filing an unlawful detainer lawsuit to terminate a tenancy. Currently, landlords must provide at least 3 days’ notice to pay rent or quit. This bill extends that notice period to 14 days, allowing tenants more time to address a rent default. The bill also makes related changes to civil procedure sections to align with the new notice requirements.
