Bill overview
This bill modifies the Political Reform Act of 1974 to allow campaign statements and registrations to be filed online or electronically instead of by fax. It simplifies reporting requirements by replacing ‘campaign statement’ with ‘campaign report’ and ‘statement of organization’ with ‘registration,’ and it removes a restriction on personal loans to candidates. The bill also eliminates a provision requiring the commission to provide a short form for low-contribution candidates and removes a voluntary filing option for reports.
