Bill overview
This bill extends deadlines for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to establish standards for computer science instruction and to report on a workgroup’s findings. Specifically, it delays the workgroup’s report and repeal of related provisions by two years. The bill also requires the commission to develop standards for using a teacher candidate’s prior field experience as an alternative pathway to meeting teaching performance assessment requirements or verifying subject matter competence, creating two separate sets of standards for these purposes. Until January 1, 2029, the commission is authorized to individually evaluate teacher candidates’ prior field experience for these alternative pathways.
