Bill overview
This bill modifies a California law regarding permits for encroachments on state highways. Specifically, it creates an exception for public utility districts in Mendocino County with a limited ratepayer base (5,000 or fewer). Instead of being required to pay for relocation or removal of encroachments due to highway improvements, the California Department of Transportation would bear those costs and notify the utility district at each stage of a project. The exception will expire on January 1, 2031.
