Bill overview
This bill updates California’s law for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. It requires agencies receiving these reports to also send a copy of the report to the attorney representing the child’s parent or legal guardian, in addition to the child’s attorney. The bill also mandates the redaction of personal identifying information from the report, except for the child, and specifies how reports should be handled in placements like foster care. It clarifies that certain parents, such as those with terminated parental rights, are exempt from this additional notification requirement.
