Bill overview
This bill aims to restrict the sale and distribution of certain products containing intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in California. Starting January 1, 2028, it prohibits the sale of cleaning products, dental floss, juvenile products, food packaging, and ski wax that contain these chemicals, with an exception for previously used items. The bill also requires manufacturers to register, pay fees, and certify compliance, and clarifies regulations regarding volatile organic compounds in cleaning products and cookware containing PFAS.
