Bill overview
This bill creates the Community Violence Interdiction Grant Program, administered by the California Health and Human Services Agency, to provide funding to local community programs working to reduce violence in neighborhoods and schools. The program will support a range of initiatives, including focused-deterrence programs, recreation and health-based interventions, school-based health centers, and youth diversion programs. It also requires the state to calculate and transfer funds based on savings from state prison closures to support these efforts.
