Bill overview
This bill eliminates the requirement for new insurance agents to complete 20 hours of prelicensing study. Instead, agents must now complete a 12-hour ethics course, which also carries a fee. The bill makes several conforming changes to the Insurance Code and incorporates amendments from Assembly Bill 487, contingent on both bills being enacted and Assembly Bill 487 being last. It also adjusts fees associated with certification and renewal of prelicensing education and continuing education courses.
