Bill overview
This bill updates California’s driver’s license and identification card system to make it easier for senior citizens to obtain identification. Specifically, it requires the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to amend forms for license cancellation and surrender, allowing seniors 62 and older to apply for an identification card using the same form as they would for a driver’s license. The resulting identification card will also display the designation ‘Senior Citizen.’
