Overview
This bill, the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act, expands the ability to remove or trim western Joshua trees in certain situations. It allows the Department of Fish and Wildlife to enter agreements with cities and counties to delegate authority to authorize tree removal associated with single-family residences, multifamily residences, accessory structures, commercial projects, industrial projects, and public works projects. The bill also includes provisions for limited removal of trees near existing residences and public works projects without requiring fees or mitigation, subject to specific size limitations and reporting requirements.
