Overview
This bill changes how local agencies calculate fees for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and junior ADUs. Specifically, it requires fees to be based only on the excess square footage above 750 square feet for ADUs, rather than the total size of the unit. It also exempts smaller ADUs (750 sq ft or less for ADUs, 500 sq ft or less for junior ADUs) from impact fees and clarifies utility connection requirements for these units.
