Overview
This bill changes how factory-built housing is inspected and permitted in California. It removes the requirement that local enforcement agencies oversee these inspections, instead allowing homeowners to choose between a local agency or a quality assurance agency to conduct the inspections. The bill also limits local inspection fees to 50% of those charged for traditional housing and prohibits fees when a quality assurance agency is used. It also adjusts fees for permitting related to factory-built housing to be no more than 50% of those for traditional housing.
