Bill overview
This bill modifies Tennessee’s pre-kindergarten program to expand eligibility for children who may not typically qualify. Specifically, it allows local education agencies (LEAs) to enroll children aged three or older, even if they aren’t considered ‘at-risk,’ as long as they reside within the LEA’s boundaries and have a parent employed by that agency. Additionally, the bill extends eligibility to children aged five or older with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who haven’t previously attended the LEA’s pre-K program. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2026.
