Bill overview
This bill restricts the Governor of Tennessee’s ability to decide whether the state should participate in the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program, also known as SUN Bucks. The program provides funds to children during the summer months. Currently, the Governor declined to participate in the program in 2025, forfeiting over $84 million in federal funding. This legislation requires the General Assembly to authorize the Governor to enroll or disenroll the state from the program.
