Bill overview
This bill would establish a right for people arrested in Oklahoma to make at least three telephone calls within 48 hours of being booked into jail. These calls can be made to an attorney, a public defender, a bail bondsman, or a chosen relative or friend. The calls must be provided promptly and are intended to allow the arrested person to communicate with important contacts. The law would be codified into Oklahoma Statutes and take effect on November 1, 2025.
