Bill overview
House Bill 1093 aims to ensure that landowners near wind turbines receive a share of the royalties generated by those facilities. The bill requires wind energy facilities to lease and distribute royalties to landowners located within 1,800 feet of the base of each wind turbine. Royalties will be divided equally among these landowners, regardless of whether their property is used for the wind farm itself. The bill applies only to new or expanded wind energy facilities constructed after November 1, 2025.
