Bill overview
This bill modifies Michigan’s voting procedures to strengthen voter identification requirements. It mandates that voters presenting a ballot must now provide both proof of identity and proof of state residency, in addition to their existing identification. Voters who do not have these documents can sign an affidavit, but must also present both a document proving identity and a document proving residency. If a voter cannot provide these documents, they will receive a provisional ballot, which will be verified after the election. The bill also updates procedures for voters who register on Election Day and those who cast provisional ballots.
