Bill overview
This bill expands access to assisted outpatient treatment for individuals with mental health conditions. It allows additional health providers, such as psychologists and qualified health professionals, to file petitions for second or continuing involuntary treatment orders, in addition to hospital directors and supervisors. The petition process requires documentation of the individual’s continued need for treatment, the treatment program, and a clinical estimate of future treatment needs. It also clarifies the roles of psychiatric nurse practitioners and qualified health professionals within the treatment process.
