Overview
This bill changes the timing of when terms for village officers begin in Michigan. Generally, terms for village officials elected after December 31, 2024, must start at noon on December 1st following their election. However, if a village’s charter specifies a different start date, that charter’s provisions will apply. Additionally, an individual filling a vacancy in a village office must wait until the election results are certified before taking the oath of office.
