Bill overview
This bill changes the timing of when elected city officials in Michigan begin their terms. Starting December 31, 2024, all newly elected city officers must begin their terms at noon on the first day of the month following their election. The bill also clarifies that a vacancy in an elected office must be filled after the election results are certified by the board of canvassers.
