Bill overview
This bill changes how inmates are responsible for paying for medical, dental, and optometric services provided to them. Currently, inmates pay a copay for these services if they request them. This bill clarifies that inmates who intentionally injure themselves and receive emergency care are responsible for the full cost of treatment, not just a copay. It also directs the Department of Corrections to consider housing facilities that can provide on-site medical treatment for inmates who self-harm.
