Bill overview
This bill proposes a shared savings mechanism for Michigan electric utilities aimed at encouraging energy waste reduction, conservation, and demand reduction. It allows utilities that meet specific annual energy savings targets (1% to 1.5%) to receive a percentage of the net benefits resulting from their energy efficiency programs, up to a maximum of 20% of their program expenditures. The Public Service Commission will oversee the implementation and determine the value of these savings based on projected utility cost reductions.
