Bill overview
This bill modifies Michigan’s laws regarding the execution of search warrants. It requires law enforcement officers to announce their identity and purpose before attempting to enter a property, and to wait a ‘reasonable period of time’ before using force. However, it also allows for immediate entry without announcing themselves if there’s an imminent threat to safety, evidence suggests someone is aware of the officers’ presence, or announcing would hinder an investigation.
