Bill overview
This bill establishes a Michigan-Indiana state line commission to survey and remonument the border between the two states. The commission will be responsible for reviewing existing surveys, recovering or reestablishing monuments, and providing updates to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. It also provides for grants to counties adjacent to the border to assist with surveying efforts, and specifies that contracts for surveying services must be awarded to companies incorporated in Michigan or with a principal place of business within the state. The act is set to expire on January 1, 2026.
