Bill overview
This bill changes the timing for how townships can officially change their names. Currently, name changes require approval at an August election. This legislation revises the law to require approval at the next May or November regular election, occurring at least 60 days after the resolution is adopted. The bill also includes a 25-year limit on how frequently a township can change its name. Passage of this bill is contingent on the passage of Senate Bill 0691'25.
