Bill overview
This bill modifies the Clean and Renewable Energy and Energy Waste Reduction Act to adjust how renewable energy systems and renewable energy credits are utilized. Specifically, it broadens the geographic locations where renewable energy systems can be sited to include outside of Michigan, clarifies rules for electric providers to use customer-generated renewable energy credits, and establishes a clean energy standard for electric providers, including municipally owned utilities and alternative suppliers. The bill also includes a report requirement for the Public Utilities Commission regarding the unique energy challenges in the Upper Peninsula.
