Bill overview
House Bill 4066 requires Michigan schools to maintain separate athletic teams and sports based on the sex of the participants – separate teams for males in male sports, females in female sports, and co-ed teams where applicable. The bill prohibits schools from knowingly allowing males to participate on teams designated for females and provides legal recourse for students who are denied athletic opportunities or experience retaliation for reporting violations. It also protects schools from adverse actions related to maintaining these separate teams.
