Bill overview
This bill modifies Michigan law regarding warrants and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). It allows DNR officers to enter private property without a warrant under specific circumstances, such as when authorized by the property owner, when pursuing a criminal suspect, or when reasonably believing evidence of a crime will be destroyed. The bill also grants the DNR broader authority to investigate and prosecute violations of natural resource laws without needing a prosecutor’s approval, and to seize related property without a warrant.
