Bill overview
This bill modifies Michigan’s military act to clarify the definition of ‘active duty combat’ and ‘official declaration of war’ as they relate to the Michigan National Guard. Specifically, it defines ‘active duty combat’ to include participation in armed conflicts and hazardous services related to such conflicts. The bill also reaffirms the requirement for a Congressional declaration of war before the National Guard can be deployed in combat. Passage of this bill is contingent upon the enactment of House Bill No. 559 of the 103rd Legislature.
