Bill overview
This bill changes Michigan’s regulations regarding water pollution and the removal of debris from waterways. Currently, permits are required for many activities that affect shorelines and waterways. This bill removes the permit requirement for certain minor debris removal activities, specifically the removal of free-floating vegetation and other washed-up debris between the ordinary high-water mark and the water’s edge, as long as it doesn’t involve disturbing the lakebed. It also clarifies that these activities are not considered dredging.
