Bill overview
This bill allows Michigan cities to work with property owners to fund the maintenance or improvement of private roads within their boundaries. Cities can create a special assessment district if more than 50% of the property owners along a road request it. The cost of improvements will be spread proportionally among the property owners in the district, and the project can last up to five years, with the possibility of extending it with a new assessment district.
